Is Creating More Content Going to Help Your Website’s SEO?

There are currently about 2 billion websites, but only 400 million of those are active, and thousands are spawning each second. In this internet ocean, how do you get your website to stand out and get visitors? There are many different optimization strategies to try to boost your site’s organic search numbers. However, one of the best ways is by creating content. This content can’t just be fluff or pointless, it must be quality. A website that isn’t doing updates of any kind could appear to search engines as a dead entity, meaning it’s not offering anything new to its visitors. You can change that easily though by just updating your content, search engines appreciate this and you’ll show up in more organic searches. There’s a reason that Bill Gates coined the phrase in his essay, “Content is King” back in 1996. He predicted that content would be the driving force behind the internet, and he was right. Let’s take a detailed look at how content can ultimately help a website’s SEO.

More Content + More Keywords= More Website Traffic

The math here is simple; the more fresh content being added to one’s website, plus the more keywords being used, equals more website traffic. Keywords are notably one of the most important things in SEO. Adding new landing pages or blogs can help your website rank for more keywords, which in turn boosts your website being higher in search engines leading visitors to your webpage. Keep in mind that fresh content doesn’t mean making small updates or changes to existing pages, a slight update will not drastically improve SEO. Fresh content should be new blogs and new landing pages.

Frequent Indexing

Just like our simple math problem above, fresh content can also equal frequent indexing. This is important to SEO because the index is just another name for the database used by a search engine. If your website is not in a search engine’s index, users won’t find it. So, the more frequently you’re making updates with blogs, downloads, and new web pages, the more frequently a search engine will visit your website. This ultimately leads to higher rankings on that search engine. A web crawler is used by search engines that ‘indexes’ a site based on different algorithmic factors. For example, sites may be indexed from the number of incoming links to the site, keywords used, and how often the site is updated. Search engines will notice these changes or the quality content being used ranking your site higher and reassess your position on its index. Another reminder, make sure your content is high-quality. If you are constantly publishing blogs with too many keywords you could be penalized by search engines.

Google Appreciates the Updates

Google is without a doubt the most popular search engine website in the entire world. Ever since its creation it has dominated the search engine market, as of February 2021, it has a 92 percent market share. Due to its popularity, your website must stay on its ‘good side’. Google appreciates websites that update once a day to at least two to three times a week. This gives you more than enough time to create meaningful, quality content. Like we mentioned above, indexing is important for high-rankings, but to do that you need to be updating and adding fresh content.

Keep Audience Informed

On top of trying to rank high in search engines, don’t forget the importance of informing your web page visitors. You created a website either to get customers, inform the public, share your thoughts, whatever the reason may be, keeping your subscribed updated is a necessity and can even lead to new visitors. If you’re trying to impress a new audience make sure to have informative articles, case studies on your product or services, and the overall benefits. If you’re trying to persuade your current or returning audience, show them what’s new with updates. Don’t ever assume once you have a visitor you keep them. Show your visitors loyalty and search engines like Google will return the favor.

As you can see, the answer is clearly yes; creating more content will help your website’s SEO. But, that is only true if you do it the right way and for the right reasons. Stick to creating quality content that gives visitors a reason to be on your website, never use fluff, people will see past that. Try using the strategies above when creating content and see how much higher you can rank in search engines.
