Instagram, a 10-year old app that has evolved drastically over the years. While it’s still the hotspot to upload pics of your artisan avocado toast wedges and show people that your cat behaves like a dog, this simple photo-based social media platform has taken off.


While Instagram’s original incarnation Burbn, boasted similar features to other mainstream social media platforms, the San Francisco-based creators Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, decided to focus on the image-side of the equation. A decade later, Instagram now has users from every tier of social hierarchy. You can post pictures of your group of friends while at the same time viewing your favorite TV Friends. You can now see pictures of your co-workers newborn alongside the babies of royalty.

The Egg

Holding nearly 54 million likes, the World Record Egg, took the internet by storm at the start of the year. The account @world_record_egg set a goal asking the internet to make this photo a world record photo, and that’s exactly what happened. It wasn’t long before it beat out the previous holder, Kylie Jenner’s pregnancy announcement, which at the time had 18 million likes. This is a testament as to what ingenious content creators can make when they think outside the box. Think about it, it’s just a picture of an egg.


Spider-Man and Iron Man Reunion

Posted Aug. 23 amidst the Sony/Disney debate over the Spider-Man IP, fans got a little shot of digital happiness. Tom Holland, who plays the MCU’s version of Spider-Man, posted to his Instagram account a photo with his former colleague and on-screen mentor Robert Downey Jr, who has been the MCU’s leading man in the form of Iron Man. This image collected over 13 million likes, and while it doesn’t hurt to be a worldwide recognized movie star posing next to superstar RDJ, someone who’s been nominated twice for Academy awards, there are content creation tips you can take away. Benny Drama’s Kim Kardashian Legally Blond

YouTuber Benito Skinner, @bennydrama7, released a short 2-minute video on Instagram, in which he parodies Kim Kardashian. The video ‘Kim Kardashian West Harvard Video Essay’, is a play on the movie Legally Blond. It has Benito assume the personality of Kim Kardashian replacing Reese Witherspoon’s iconic role of Elle Woods in her Harvard Law School application submission.


This video became viral, as Kim’s own sister Khloe posted it on her Story.

After logging on, Aniston set a Guinness World Record by accumulating one million followers in 5 hours and 16 minutes. She has since racked up over 20 million followers and her first post with her former ‘Friends’ co-stars generated over 15.2 million likes. It just goes to show that for clever content creators, even a blurry shot can get people talking.

A Royal Baby, Harry, and Megan with Archie

Chris Allerton took an incredible black and white photo of Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry, and Megan, whose Instagram handle is @SussexRoyal, introduced their baby to the world through the social media platform. The royal couple has gathered a staggering 9.9 million followers since joining Instagram as a couple in 2019.
